Larsson continues his posthumous domination of the Irish book market in 2010. Though it is nice to see the presence of McCann’s book which did well in 2009 and Brooklyn by Toibin no doubt helped by his Costa win last week, I wonder how it will do if he wins the overall award?

So fascinating to see Stieg Larsson’s books continuing to do so well. I bought myself the first book in November in a store and the girl on checkout told me ‘I’ve just finished the second one, they’re brilliant.’ A symptom of great word of mouth appeal.
It is quite incredible, especially when the author is deceased and we hear so much about the importance of author platforms.
In many ways I think they are doing well for all the reasons in this wonderful post:

EXCEPT that in Larsson’s case the books are pretty good!

Surprised Toibin didn’t make it to number one given the amount of positive publicity for him after the Costa win, maybe it caught people short and he will climb to the top next week?
