Gill & Macmillan Acquire Carroll Education Primary Schools List

Mad4MathsGill & Macmillan have acquired the Carroll Education Primary Schools list. The acquisition will bring several classic primary titles into the Gill & Macmillan fold including; Bualadh Bos, Léimis le Chéile, Mad4Maths and Lift Off!

Speaking about the acquisition Dermot O’Dwyer, Managing Director of Gill & Macmillan said “We are excited about this opportunity to increase substantially our profile in the fast growing primary schools market in Ireland.”

The deal also sees a major change at Gill & Macmillan as Jonathan Saint, Managing Director and Publisher of Carroll Education moves to Gill & Macmillan as Publisher: Primary Schools from 4 May 2010.

Carroll Education will provide sales representation for the newly combined primary list a new development for Gill & Macmillan .

Merlin Sells Film Rights For Paperboy

Paperboy: A MemoirMerlin Publishing has sold the movie rights to its latest release Paperboy by Tony Macauley, to production company Titian Red Pictures.

Filming is scheduled to begin towards the end of 2010.

In their statement Chenile Keogh, Managing Director and Publisher of Merlin Publishing, said ‘From the moment we signed Paperboy we knew that it was destined for international success. It is a very special book that is both touching and hilarious and we are delighted that Tony’s exceptional talent has been recognised by such a prestigious production company.’

How Do You Follow The London Book Fair From Afar?


With the ash cloud many have been forced to cancel trips to the 2010 London Book Fair, but there are ways to follow the action from a distance.

The first and best way is to read the up to date coverage from The Bookseller. They also offer Daily editions via PDF a great resource.

Twitter is much more active in these parts, even since last year. You could start with the tweets relating to the digital conference on Sunday to whet the appetite.

The main stream of tweets should be using either the #LBF of the #LBF10 handle and there really is a blast of tweets under both.
