Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick Wins Bisto Children's Book Of The Year 2009/2010 for 'There'

Author and illustrator Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick has won the 20th Bisto Children’s Book of the Year for her book There. Fitzpatrick also won the Bisto Honour Award for Illustration

The awards were announced today at the Hugh Lane gallery and Senator David Norris presented Fitzpatrick with a cheque for €10,000 for her Book of the Year victory and a cheque for €2,000 and a framed certificate for the Illustration award.

Fitzpatrick has previously won the award twice before in 2001 and 2003 for her books You, Me and the Big Blue Sea and Izzy and Skunk.

Three other awards were presented as follows on the day:

Eilís Dillon Award (€3,000 & specially commissioned glass sculpture)
Bob Burke – The Third Pig Detective Agency

Bisto Honour Award for Writing (€2,000 & framed certificate)
Siobhan Dowd – Solace of the Road

Children’s Choice Award (€2,000 & framed certificate)
Jane Mitchell – Chalkline
