Stieg Larsson has sold 215,000 copies of his Millennium Trilogy (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest) in Ireland in 2010 according to news figures released by Nielsen Bookscan, the organisation that tracks booksales across several markets.
Irish sales are dwarfed by Larsson sales in other territories. He has sold total volume sold 2.3m copies in the UK, 3m in the US, 1.1m in Italy and 373,000 Denmark.
A film version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was released in March 2010.

Is anyone surprised? The themes and “insider knowledge” of the Larsson novels are totally engaging – not generally my interest-field, but I have yet to meet anyone who did not find the books totally absorbing
I have to admit I’ve yet to read them, though book one is sitting on my desk!
