Ireland’s Laureate na nÓg, Siobhan Parkinson, and members of the Literature Alliance will appear before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Arts, Sport, Tourism, Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs on Wednesday, 14th July.
They plan to discuss the importance of promoting and supporting Irish writers and as well as reading among the public, especially children.
The 2010 Budget saw a cut in Arts Council funding of nearly 7%.
