Two Book Deal For Debut Author

Hachette Books Ireland has signed a two book, UK and Commonwealth rights, deal with Maria Duffy, active tweeter and Hello magazine blogger

The first book Any Dream Will Do will be published in time for the Christmas market in November 2011.

Ciara Doorley the acquiring editor said, ‘I’m thrilled that we’re publishing Maria. Her voice is fresh and very “of the moment” and she really captures the Irish sense of humour. ’

Maria’s writing career began when, after completing her first book, she came across the Inkwell website, an online resource run by Vanessa O’Loughlin for writers who want to get published.

The book tells the story of Jenny Breslin a single thirty-something Dubliner who turns to the Twitterverse to shake up her boring life. ‘So who’s on for a few days in Dublin? Would love to meet you all in person. I have a spare room in my house!’ The drunken tweet to her online friends, which changes Jenny’s life forever.

A self-confessed celebrity junkie, Maria runs a blog for Hello magazine’s website called ‘Stars in the Twitterverse‘ where she publishes her interviews with celebs such as Jedward, Keith Barry, girl group Wonderland, and more.

Sheila Crowley of Curtis Brown represented Duffy.
