Walker Books Creates Irish Language Imprint

In a move supported by Forfas na Gaeilge, Walker Books has started an Irish language imprint, Walker Eireann, and will publisher four titles later this month.

The list will features titles written and illustrated by Irish authors and illustrators.

The first four titles are Stiúcaí Stiúgtha (The Ravenous Beast) by Niamh Sharkey, Ar Strae Beagán (A Bit Lost) by Chris Haughton, Tomhais Méid Mo Ghrá Duit (Guess How Much I Love You) by Sam McBratney and Ulchabháin Óga (Owl Babies) by Martin Waddell.

These new Irish language editions have been translated, and in some cases re-imagined, by Gabriel Rosenstock who said of the move, ‘Children who read these books will read them to their own children in times to come!’

The books will be launched officially on 13 September 2012.
