Blog-To-Book Authors Win Big At Irish Blog Awards 2010

Aisling McDermott, author of The Beaut.ie Guide to Gorgeous (Gill & Macmillan, 2009), and her sister Kirstie won the best Beauty/Fashion blog award for their blog, Beaut.ie they also won the overall best Irish blog of 2010.

Donal Skehan, author of Good Mood Food (Mercier Press, 2009) and The Good Mood Food Blog has won best Food & Drink Blog at the Irish Blog Awards, 2010 which took place on Saturday 27th March in the Raddison Blu Hotel in Galway.

This is the fifth year of the Awards which are organised by online communications consultant and blogger, Damien Mulley.

Bord Gáis Energy To Sponsor Irish Book Awards

The Irish Book Awards has signed a new headline sponsor with Irish semi-state company, Bord Gáis Energy. The company is to sponsor the event for three years starting in 2010.

The Awards will now take place in November and submissions are open until the closing date of 30th September 2010.

As part of the deal Bord Gáis Energy will launch a nationwide reading promotion in April 2010.

Irish Book Awards "Unaffected" By Hughes & Hughes Collapse

The Irish Book Awards will be unaffected by the collapse of Hughes & Hughes according to IBA administrator, Bert Wright. The bookshop chain, which entered receivership on Friday 26th February, had been one of the event’s sponsors.
