Marian Keyes storms to number one this week with a remarkable 2,795 units this week while the two non-fiction titles in the top ten, Jamie’s 30-minute Meals and The Feel Good Factor both had strong weeks at number two and three respectively.

The boost that the paperback edition of Room has given to Emma Donogue’s Booker nominated novel is remarkably long-lived and if this rate of sales continues she will come close to rivaling Sebastian Barry’s massive sales a few years ago for The Secret Scripture.

No less impressive this week is the Casey Hill performance and the only Irish published title, Erin Kaye’s The Art Of Friendship.

A combination of Ghost Light sales slowing and Stieg Larsson hold steady means that Jospeh O’Connor‘s run at the top end of the charts is heading for an end.
I’ll be interested to see how long he now stays in the top ten and whether nominations for any of the upcoming prizes re-energize his sales. Colum McCann‘s paperback edition of Let The Great World Spin is selling nicely and, alongside Maeve Binchy, he rounds out the Irish contingent in the top ten.

The power of the Stieg Larsson brand is really quite phenomenal. Again his book dominate the top ten, but woth some interesting new arrivals, most notably Mick McCaffrey’s Cocaine Wars. Real life and fictional thrillers being equally popular in Ireland.

No doubt fuelled by the heavy promotion of the film, Invictus makes an appearance in the top ten, which is overall dominated by the talented but departed Mr Larsson. Colum McCann is still selling well as is Sebold and the seemingly unstoppable rise of the Mathematical Tables continues!

We have the somewhat odd situation at the end of February where Alice Sebold occupies two slots with one book (in different editions), a product of the motion picture hype and the impressive performance of Irish actress Saoirse Ronan. Colum McCann makes a return after a somewhat strange disappearance driven I suspect by poor restocking or perhaps a rushed reprint. Larsson remains strong and two weeks in a row without Meyer. If Meyer’s fading sales are consistent worldwide, Hachette may need to find something soon for 2010 if their figures have any hope of matching the results from 2010.
