How Do You Follow The London Book Fair From Afar?

With the ash cloud many have been forced to cancel trips to the 2010 London Book Fair, but there are ways to follow the action from a distance.

The first and best way is to read the up to date coverage from The Bookseller. They also offer Daily editions via PDF a great resource.

Twitter is much more active in these parts, even since last year. You could start with the tweets relating to the digital conference on Sunday to whet the appetite.

The main stream of tweets should be using either the #LBF of the #LBF10 handle and there really is a blast of tweets under both.

WH Smiths Using Dublin As Testbed

The Bookseller reports today that WH Smith will be using their new Terminal Two stores at Dublin Airport as a testing ground for expansion in Ireland:

A spokesperson for WHS said: “It’s part of a trial we are doing to see how the model works in international markets. This gives us the opportunity to test our approach on a slightly larger scale in the Republic of Ireland.”

The Hughes & Hughes Round Up @Midnight 26th February

RTE reports that:

the Dublin Airport Authority said that the five Hughes and Hughes outlets operating there remain open tonight and a meeting with the receiver is due to take place shortly.

It is not clear how many staff are employed at the airport, but the DAA say that those outlets are and always have been profitable.

The Bookseller reports:

Rumours of the imminent demise of the chain, which was founded in 1983, began to circulate earlier in the week, and a statement had been expected earlier in the day. H&H had expanded rapidly over the past ten years, opening more than 10 branches. At one point it had 24 stores across the British Isles.
